Health and safety

Our employees are our greatest and most valuable asset. We do our best to protect the health and safety of our employees.

We invest to make working conditions safe and provide our employees with modern personal safety equipment and facilities. We also seek to instil a safety culture throughout the SCM businesses. We regularly improve our employees health and safety system, introduce modern approaches to prevent, detect and cure occupational diseases. Our companies take actions to offer higher quality of medical assistance.

SCM is one of the biggest employers in Ukraine. More than 200,000 people work at our production facilities and offices, performing manual labour or working creatively. We are confident that a strong team of professionals is essential to the long-term success and sustainable development of our companies.

Local development

SCM’s companies play an important role in the social and economic development of Ukraine, often being the major employers and biggest taxpayers in their communities. It creates a powerful bond between the business and the community.

The companies of SCM pay all their taxes in full and on time. While paying taxes is a legally binding standard in any economic activity, investment in the social and economic development of local communities is a voluntary initiative undertaken by businesses. SCM  initiates and supports numerous projects that help our towns and villages to raise their living standards, develop business environment, social infrastructure, education, culture and sports.

We believe that only by combining the efforts of all stakeholders can we sustainably improve the quality of living. All of our businesses are open to cooperation with local governments, international organisations, civic society and residents. Indeed, we wish to work with everyone committed to change and ready to partner with us to better the life in our communities. 

The Social Partnership Programme is the main instrument applied by SCM to implement its social programmes. Our projects under the SPP are making change in towns and villages already today by helping to build warm and light schools and kindergartens, modern hospitals, parks and sports grounds where children can play and develop.

Environment protection and energy efficiency

Using natural resources sustainably and reducing the environmental footprint are keystones to successful business development and high living standards. Our goal is to minimise our environmental footprint and make every effort to ensure comfort and safety in the areas where we are based.

We invest significantly in modernisation. We buy new equipment and technologies that are modern, efficient and more environmentally friendly. We realise programmes to cut emissions and increase energy efficiency. We are committed to the sustainable use of natural resources and responsible waste treatment. We believe that our contribution to the environmental awareness of our employees and Ukrainians in general is equally important. Quality assurance

The companies of SCM offer a vast variety of products and services to individuals and entities in different economic sectors of Ukraine: steel products and energy, machines and equipment, financial and telecommunication services, agricultural products, transportation and logistics services, etc.

Producing quality goods and services that satisfy the expectations and needs of our customers is a primary objective of all companies within SCM. Business ethics and corporate governance

The principles underlying the success and long-term development of the SCM include single rules of doing business based on CSR and fixed in the Code of Corporate Ethics; openness and transparency; regular reporting and a constructive dialogue with stakeholders. These rules are followed by every employee at all levels of the Group - from the SCM Chief Executive Officer to workers of our enterprises. All our assets regularly report about their business operations, performance and contribution in development of society.
