Ukrtelecom continues to provide fibre optic Internet to Ukrainian cities, towns, and villages. Over the past six months, it connected 24 localities in Chernivtsi, Kharkiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky, Luhansk, Rivne, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy and Volyn oblasts, using GPON technology.
The operator is implementing a large-scale project to build more than 3,500 km of fibre optic lines and provide optical Internet to almost 300 towns and villages. The first stage of construction works is now underway in 16 regions where thousands of residents in 65 localities will enjoy Internet speed of up to 200 Mbit/s, Internet telephony, and interactive TV.
Today, Ukrtelecom offers Internet coverage in almost 2,300 Ukrainian localities and continues to develop the fibre optic infrastructure. This year, it has laid almost 1,400 km of optical cables.
Expanding the service geography and providing access to high-speed Internet help bridge the digital gap in the country. Ukrtelecom’s subscribers enjoy the Internet, especially fibre optic Internet, and the operator’s revenues from Internet services continue to grow, making over UAH 880 million in H1 2019, up by 8.2% year on year.
