<
2006 – 469 people (accelerated training course attended by 45).
The program was implemented thanks to
close cooperation with Donetsk
National Technical
University. The
enterprise has been a partner of the university for all 43 years of its
operation. Contract relations with one of the best technical
universities in Ukraine
ensures a high quality education for employees, while payment conditions
(the company pays most of the tuition if an employee shows good results) are a
strong motivator to improve skills. Also, this program helps the enterprise keep
trained personnel as the employee must work at the plant after the training for
at least three years.
The accelerated training program is an
example of SCM Group building long-term and mutually beneficial labour
relations with employees. SCM encourages education and motivates employees to
apply their acquired knowledge in production processes.
Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant Provides Jobs to Disabled
A major principle of SCM Group’s employment policy is compliance with
current labour regulations and respect for human rights. Group enterprises in
particular care for people with physical disabilities, creating
jobs for them and helping them adapt to society.
Based on these principles and goals, the management of Khartsyzsk
Pipe Plant (KhTZ), an asset of Metinvest, decided to establish a workshop for improving the health of handicapped people and enabling their rehabilitation through work.
Today the shop produces over 60 types of garments. All necessary conditions for disabled people are in place. The building
is equipped with air-conditioners and a rehabilitation medical record sheet was
developed for each person. Plant management monitors the wage level, and wages
have been growing regularly of late. They enjoy all the benefits and rights of KhTZ employees stipulated in the collective agreement.
As a result, the project created jobs at KhTZ
for socially vulnerable citizens and secured the need of employees for working
clothes and individual protectors.
Acquiring new equipment, arranging new working places, and organizing
education for the disabled are the next steps for the labour rehabilitation
program.
