On 12 December, FC Shakhtar
held a charitable match with FC Illychivets. Shakhtar players appeared in T-shirts with the logo of the
internet portal Sirotstvy.net (Say No to Orphanhood)
instead of the logo of SCM, which is the team’s primary sponsor. All the funds
raised from the tickets to the match will be allocated to support children in
orphanages.
Internet-portal Sirotstvy.net was
launched several days ago by Rinat Akhmetov's Foundation for Development of Ukraine together
with the State Department for Adoption and Protection of Children's Rights and Magnoliya NGO.
Now, by visiting the national adoption
portal Sirotstvy.net, potential parents will be able to get full information
about Ukrainian children to be adopted.
"We believe that the happier our
children live today, the better future is expecting our country tomorrow. And to be happy, children need a family", commented Natalia Yemchenko, SCM Director of Public Relations and
Communications. “We hope the portal Sirotstvy.net will help many children
deprived of parental care find a loving family. Being FC Shakhtar
primary sponsor, we agreed to place the portal logo on the footballers'
T-shirts instead of our logo. SCM supports and shares the initiative of the FDU
and FC Shakhtar in calling all fans to address the
problem of orphanhood in Ukraine”.
